This is the first Tauren figure to come out of DC Unltd's line so before anything else here's a little insight on what Taurens are from our friends over at WoW Wiki:
Tauren (shu'halo in their native language of Taur-ahe) are huge nomadic creatures who live on the grassy, open plains of Mulgore in central Kalimdor. Tauren are large, muscular humanoids and bovine in appearance, complete with hooves and horns. They stand anywhere from six and a half to nine feet tall and weigh anywhere from 400 to 700 pounds. Their immense bodies are covered with fine, short fur that ranges in color from black to gray to white to red to brown to tan and any mottled combinations or variations thereof. After generations of nomadic existence, the tauren have recently made permanent settlements in Mulgore and the Barrens. Here's a look at the box. Since this is a deluxe figure and a large one at that, it comes in a box that's very similar to the other deluxe figures we've covered.
This figure is huge and heavy, because of that it has a box lining to support it's weight. Inside you'll get the main figure his accessory and the peg stand. Oh, and there's an instruction manual on how to assemble the entire series 3 line just in case you get lost in assembly.
Here's the turn around of the main figure without the peg and the weapon. This figure can do fine on it's own as you can see. This is the heaviest figure we've reviewed so far and it stays true to the scale when compared to the other figures in the line. With arms stretched apart and looking over to the left he seems to have a broken left horn otherwise half of it's already in his shoulder.
Here's a look at his weapon. It seems to be some kind of axe rifle hybrid I tried to look around but found no in game reference to this weapon. I'm very disappointed to find that this weapon is made of plastic. yes you heard it right it's damn plastic! Wait to go and ruin what could've been a great accessory. As you can see the colors on the figure aren't helping at all or is actually making it worse. A lot of colors are either bleeding into the other parts where they shouldn't be. Just look at the barrel, it looks ugly. And because it's plastic there's a division right in the middle which really makes it more ugly. I really feel that this one could've looked way better if it's made with the same materials as the figure itself. I hope that this is the last accessory made of plastic.
Here's the turn around of the complete figure. As you can see this figure is large as hell with great sculpts all over. The fur is very consistent all over the figure which is important being a Tauren and all. Korg or Brave Highmountain hasn't appeared in any other medium except in DC Unltd's Warcraft Figures so I guess it's no surprise that we can't find anything in the Warcraft game that resembles his clothes or armor. He looks like he's stalking or looking for something or someone, not the best pose we've seen but it still looks great. The accessory fits right in as it's the largest one we've reviewed so far. Even though it's made of ugly plastic.
The shoulder armor is made of the skull of some kind of horned animal. The sculpt looks great and is colored the way it should be, no smudges or bleeding over to the other parts. The horns even have their own accessories that compliments the overall theme and color of the figure.
Highmountain's hands are sculpted very nicely with great details on the glove. There are lots of small blue gems shaped like hooves all around which adds a little bit of color variation to an otherwise all brown figure. There's even some stitching on the side of the glove which adds to the authenticity of the sculpt. One thing that I know they could've done better is the color of the actual fingers of the hands. As you can see in the images, the colors look like they were rubbed off or faded. Aside from that the hands look pretty good.
The face is one of the things I like about this figure. It really isn't obvious but his left horn is damaged, most likely from a battle of some sort. When you try to reach out and feel the left horn you can feel that it's not as long as the right horn. Otherwise he wouldn't be able to look that far left. The horns have great texture and sculpts to it and the accessory on the right horn looks just right for his overall theme. The eye color is carefully done and with great detail. Because the eyes are small it's kind of hard to get the color just right but I can say that whoever did it, did it well. I'm glad he has a little bit of expression to him. Kind of angry but patient look.
The chest part has all the great details because it has the most variation of colors and sculpt than anywhere else on the figure. He seems to be wearing the skull of some kind of bird. He even made light armor from the bones to cover his chest. I'm betting this is a native Indian inspired design. There's also a lot of feathers around his waist that compliments the rest of the design. There's even another bird skull that seems to be the buckle of his utility belt. The bags on his backside looks great and looks to be native Indian in design again. As you can see the small blue gems are all over his accessories. Which is also good considering that they look good around him.
This guy carries a lot of bags I think mostly for all the ammo he's going to use on that big ass rifle axe he's carrying. It kind of get's me into thinking, leather is mostly made of cow skin right? So if you're a Tauren and you're carrying lots of leather bags means your carrying dead cow skin right? Wouldn't that be awkward?
Did I mention they did great work on his tail? Even the braids on his beard look realistic enough for me. I'm glad that the artist made sure that the hairs around his body are consistently sculpted all over the figure or else he would've been a total failure as a Tauren.
Here's a closer look at his foot. Nothing new here just a hoof, but sculpted with great detail. Not too smooth and not too rough.
Korg err... Brave Highmountain is the third Deluxe Action figure to come out of DC Unltd's line of World of Warcraft Action Figures. And if you're into large figures with great detail this figure is a sure buy for you. But if you're very particular about the materials being used on accessories and want a lot of articulation on you're figure you might want to skip this one.
