World of Warcraft and Starcraft Comics Cancelled! Kind Of...

Friday, January 29, 2010

I'm not sure why I missed this bit of information being an avid reader of Wildstorm's World of Warcraft and Starcraft Comics. Apparently the one shot special I got which was supposed to be the beginning of the Horde storyline is the last comic book to come out of Wildstorm's line of World of Warcraft. That's not all, the Starcraft comic book will share the same fate and will end with issue #7. But don't worry geeks we'll still get our Warcraft and Starcraft stories in another format.

"While WildStorm and Blizzard loved the stories being told in the regular monthly comic-book series, we decided that the graphic novel would be a more suitable medium for the tales we wanted to tell next," said Hank Kanalz, VP & General Manager of Wildstorm. "The larger format will give our artists and storytellers more room to explore Blizzard's rich, varied worlds and flesh out the characters that inhabit these places."

No details of the graphic novels have come out so I guess we'd have to wait and see what kind of stories we'll get in this new direction Wildstorm is taking. One thing's for sure the graphic novels are pricier than the comic books so let your pockets be ready.
