Draenei Mage Tamuura World of Warcraft Action Figure Review

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Today we cover the first Mage ever to be immortalized in DC Unltd's World of Warcraft Action Figures and I must say she is a great way to start representing Mages. The Draenei Mage Tamuura stands at 9.5" at her highest point with exquisite details to match every action figure enthusiast's taste. Although she hasn't appeared in any other Warcraft medium or lore she is still a welcome addition to our collection. As with most if not all the figures we've covered, there is virtually no articulation what so ever in this figure which means Tamuura is mostly meant for display rather than an actual toy. So what are you waiting for? Check the break for the full on image heavy review after the jump.

Before we get too ahead of ourselves let's first get some info on what Mages are in World of Warcraft, here's a clip form WoW Wiki
The mage is a caster that specializes in burst damage and area of effect spells. His primary role in a group at lower levels is damage dealing and crowd control through the use of Polymorph, temporarily changing humanoids and beasts into harmless critters. At end-game levels, the role of the mage expands into utility, as many encounters in the game are difficult to finish without Counterspell, Remove Curse, and Spellsteal. The mages' utility spells also include conjuring food and drink and the ability to teleport to major cities and open portals for party members.

Let's jump right into it shall we? Don't forget to click the images for a better look. Here's a look at the packaging.

All in all you get three pieces, the main figure a short sword and a small worm like creature. Just joking that's her tail. I'm glad this time they didn't put any kind of tape to hold the accessories in place as that might damage the colors and paint job.

Here's a closer look at her tail and her short sword. Low level Mages in World of Warcraft start off with wands and then move on to enchanted daggers and short swords when they level up. By the looks of her sword I can safely say Tamuura's a high level Mage.

Here's the turn around of the main figure without the accessories. Male Draenei's are big and buff but when it comes to the female of their species they become tall and slender. I'm loving the smooth lines on her stomach and horse legs. Am I the only one who thinks the hole where her tail should be is inappropriate?

Here's the Draenie Mage Tamuura complete with tail and sword. The pose looks elegant with her looking sideways you can get a great angle where you can see most of the great details on her. With her color theme I'm guessing she's either an arcane or frost Mage of some sort. Draenei's are mostly dark blue in color but with Tamuura you get a really great light blue effect on her skin which is really different from what we've seen with Vindicator Maraad. The length of her tail is just right, not too long and not too short. I like the supposed blue gems that's accenting her over all look but I kind of feel they look more like blue rocks or gravel attached to her due to the colors that were applied. But that's just my thoughts on it though, everything still looks great when you look at the whole figure.

Tamuura has a beautiful face as you can see here. Females in World of Warcraft are beautiful and Tamuura is no exception.

Mages only wear light armor if you can actually call it armor since most of what they wear is either enchanted cloth or leather of some sort. The armor on her shoulders look very light and go well with the over all look of Tamuura. So far the colors look great and nothing seems to be out of place.

Her hands are one of the best things I like about this figure. The details are smooth down to the nails. The colors are where they should be and don't spill out to the other parts. I really like how the left hand is spread out, you can really see the nail polish and smooth sculpt on each figure.

As I said Mages only wear light armor, in Tamuura's case she doesn't wear anything to cover her stomach which looks great. Even the small gems on her belly button look great. She seems to be wearing some kind of leather material to cover her legs. There's even markings all over it that add great detail to her design. I'm really not sure if the silver lining is supposed to be some kind of metal or just a color design to compliment the other colors.

Among all the races in the Alliance faction Draenei's are very unique in appearance. Just look at Tamuura's feet err... hooves. Did I mention she's wearing fish net stockings? The sculptor didn't miss out on any design details even in areas that aren't really that obvious. Check on the back of the armor plate of her left leg, you can see it's being attached at the back by some kind of wooden plate.

Mages are one of the best classes in World of Warcraft and with the addition of the Draenei Mage Tamuura to the action figure line we still have a lot to look forward to. This is the first female Draenei we've seen translated into an action figure and she did not disappoint in any way. If she's any indication of things to come for female Draenei's then I really couldn't wait for the next one.

Hi again! Great review on Tamuura. Yes, she's quite lovely, isn't she? I just acquired Illidan over the weekend. ^___^

Anyway, I was wondering if you only review DC Unlimited releases. I came across this figure of Tichondrius from Toycom and instantly fell in love: http://www.figurerealm.com/actionfigure.php?FID=20714&figure=tichondrius

The problem is that it was released way back in 2003 and is apparently now a rare collector's item. *sigh* It sells for $100 Ebay USA! *dies*

as of now we only do reviews for DC Unltd's line... problem is we really can't afford another line.. maybe once we get a real sponsor hehe... or if someone dares to loan us a figure to review we'd be happy to do it... have you seen the diorama from Sideshow Collectibles?... it's the best one out of all that I've seen and it costs around 16k here... i'm sure you'll like it too... Sideshow Diorama... thanks for all the comments... it's very much appreciated...

Yup I've seen it and I've also read your post about it but I just can't afford it. Lolz.

Currently, it's for sale in Ebay PH for 15k.. just a little bit less tahn your 16k. Still too pricey for me, though. =(

yeah... too pricey even for a die hard collector like me... but I hope someday a reader that owns one would let me borrow it just to get a review... wishful thinking...

My Tamuura's feet aren't flat on the floor. This makes her unstable. Is there a way to realign the legs so they stay flush to the floor?

@archie - unfortunately there's no way to adjust her legs. It sucks I know...

Hi! i start collecting WoW figures. right now i have Illidan demon form, vindicator maraad, quin'thalan, and tamuura. I bought tamuura recentley and when i opened the pakage her clothes and hair and specialy hooves were kinda oily and shiny (Im 100% sure that shes not fake cause of colors and everything) and i found that her upper body is detachable and once i opened the box her upper body detached form her feet and i attached it. im gonna ask is this normal? and if it is then there is some way to make her stand probably.cause mine 2 have standing problems.
PS. Thanks for the great reviews and your great site!

@anonymous - I think the figure you got wasn't stored very well. Usually the oily stuff is a rection to heat... The leg detaching and stuff really isn't normal... I hope you get better figures next time... =)

PS - leave a name so we can recognize you next time... Thanks!

@jab- Thanks for the answer! but i dont have any problems with the figure except standing problem, and yes i think heat made it oily and soft so it could be easily dettached(thanks god it was attachable :D) and again thanks for great reviews.
