Street Fighter IV Coming to the iPhone! Fight on the Go!

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Nowadays every game's road leads to an iPhone version and it looks like Street Fighter IV is the latest game to be ported over to Apple's magic mobile phone. Capcom plans to release this to the world somewhere around March which is pretty close. I wonder how hardcore Street Fighter fans would react to this as fighting games aren't supposed to be played on a touch screen. Or would Capcom be able to make this work? Check the break for more preview images.

Capcom is planning to have every little detail shrunk down to iPhone size and every character would still have all their moves and combos intact. However not every character would be available on the iPhone port and right now only Ken and Ryu are confirmed, except for the image of Guile in the preview image so I guess it's safe to say that he's also in the iPhone version. As you can see all the controls are on the touch screen and it seems that no peripheral add ons are planned for this release. However reports are saying that Capcom has enabled a ton of options to configure the controls to give every player a comfortable feel of controlling the game.

Here's a couple of preview images from IGN. As always click on the image to get a closer look.

Did I mention multiplayer support? You can test your skills and beat up a friend through the iPhone and iPod Touch's built in Bluetooth. There's even a training mode to hone your skills. And don't forget that this will eventually work with Apple's iPad which will probably give it some more room for the controls. I'm sure every hardcore Street Fighter fan would give this a try but would it be good enough to play on such a small device without any physical buttons?
