Quick Book Review: Z.E.O Scott Kenemore

I've never been a fan of self-help books. There's really something annoying about those thick hard bound books that tell you how to be successful or live a fulfilling life. Maybe I'm just too irritated about how other people are bragging about their success and how we should all do the same thing they did. It's not like I didn't try reading 'em, It's just that I put them back after 2 agonizingly boring pages. It's like I'm already working hard just by reading those books. Now that you know how I feel about these types of books I have to say I'm very lucky to have come across Scott Kenemore's "Z.E.O A Zombie’s Guide to Getting A(Head) In Business" as you can see by the title alone it's not your typical self help book, it's something that gives you all the same points the other serious books out there have but with a twist. Check the break for some impressions.

The first thing I like about this book is that it doesn't take it's subject too seriously. You'll literally see the word "brains" a lot in this book and with good reason. It's basically what drives zombies in the first place. Scott Kenemore drives a lot of interestingly funny points that when you think about it really makes sense in a weird way. Here's an example:

- Turn your weaknesses into strengths – a missing arm or leg never stops a zombie

I know you don't have to lose an arm or a leg just to prove this point but you have to admit this would really get you thinking about how much you complain about how you're not well suited for a specific task.

If you haven't guessed yet this book is pretty heavy on the satirical stuff and the author drives his point a little further by enumerating what the other famous books have been teaching and mashing in zombies to drive his point.

I have to say that there were a couple of pages where I felt all the zombie relating stuff got a little too repetitive but you have to realize that this book is basically a mutated self help book so it's really not surprising that some of the pages seem repetitive. I'm just glad to be entertained by all the zombie stuff anyway and we really can't expect zombies to do much as the only thing they really want to do is eat brains.

So if you're tired of the same old boring self improvement books lining the shelves of your local book store you might want to grab "Z.E.O A Zombie’s Guide to Getting A(Head) In Business" just to keep things in perspective and to remind yourself not to take things too seriously or else zombies will eat your brains.
